Then I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, “Whom shall I send, and who will go for Us?
"Then I said 'Here am I. Send me!' Isaiah 6:8
Just as Ivanhoe Congregational Church welcomes all, we care for the world around us, near and far. Within our walls, Congregational Care teams aid those near to us, giving assistance when it is needed. Opportunities are available to gather together and serve the community around us. Ministries near and far are assisted, such as:
Northern Illinois Food Bank - Work days and Souperbowl of Caring
Avon Township Secret Santa - Providing Christmas Gifts for disadvantaged children
Lake County PADS - Volunteer at homeless shelter, feed, house, and provide lunches for Lake County’s homeless, as well as house warming supplies for transitional housing
Night Ministry/The Crib - Provide oversight and breakfast at a Chicago shelter for youth without a place to stay
Various Mission trips to provide labor in disaster stricken regions
Knit and Crochet Group - hand crafting items for congregational care as well as fundraising
One Great Hour of Sharing-Supports the disaster, refugee, and development ministries of the United Church of Christ within Wider Church Ministries.
Animal Education and Rescue - support by way of fundraising at blessing of the animals special service... and many more.
Our congregation enjoys time spent caring for each other, as well as others. Dozens of opportunities are available, on a one time or continuing basis. We share in the opportunity to be of service to the world in which we live.
