Nicole led us in a collaborative art project as part of worship on Sunday, August 26. We began worship upstairs that day and then headed downstairs to paint. Please visit Nicole’s website for some examples of her previous Art Ministry projects (and now including our project – click on ‘Come be Included’ for more pictures!).

Rolling River Rampage invited rafters of all ages on a white-water rafting adventure where we experienced the ride of a lifetime with God! Rafters discovered that life with God is an adventure full of wonder and surprise, and that they could trust God to be with them through anything. This year’s Vacation Bible School was held Tuesday, August 7th and Wednesday, August 8th from 1-3 pm, and Thursday, August 9th from 5:30-7:30 pm. The Tuesday and Wednesday sessions were for our young people. The Thursday evening session was open to all members of our congregation, or family members of our rafters, regardless of age.
We had a great week of adventure, acceptance and joy with bible stories, art projects, playing games and snacks for hungry rafters. Please visit our Facebook page for more pictures & videos of the event.
On Thursday, we learned a great deal about bees, beekeeping and other pollinators from Paul Green, who graciously answered all our many questions. He also encouraged us to build ‘pollinator pockets’ to help support bees, butterflies, moths, and other insects critical to our food supply and human survival. For more information, please visit this U of I Extension page.
When you pass through the waters, I will be with you. Isaiah 43:2
On July 15, 2018, we were pleased to welcome David Goodwin to speak in our worship service. David is the Congregational and Community Relations Coordinator for the Night Ministry in Chicago. The members of Ivanhoe Church help to support the Night Ministry and actively participate in several activities with the Night Ministry including The Crib. The Night Ministry works to provide housing, healthcare and human connection to our brothers and sisters who are struggling with poverty or homelessness. They serve everyone without concern for race, ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation, or gender identity.
