Welcome Pastor Nicole

The Rev. Nicole Farley is an ordained pastor in the PC(USA). She most recently served a congregation in Waukesha, WI, and now serves as the founder and pastoral artist with A New Creation, an arts ministry which brings communities into the creation of worshipful art together. She and her husband live in Gurnee, IL, and together they have an adult son named Jim and a greyhound named Buddy. Besides art and lived theology, she’ll gladly have a conversation about books, podcasts, music, and movies.

We welcome Pastor Nicole to Ivanhoe and look forward to her leadership during Pastor Kris’s sabbatical through August. Feel free to contact Pastor Nicole at the church office, office@ivanhoechurch.org or by phone at 847.566.5204.

Welcome Kerry Reek – New Youth Director

The Youth Ministry Board is pleased to announce that we have hired a new Youth Director. Kerry Reek was introduced to the congregation on April 22nd and held a meeting after worship. The youth discussed plans for upcoming events and were encouraged to participate in the Great Lakes Regional Youth Event (July 5-8) and the Mission Trip (August 1-5). Kerry is a teacher with the Special Education District of Lake County. She is a member of Community Protestant Church (UCC) in Mundelein and had a great youth group experience. So, she looks forward to creating a safe space for the youth to have opportunities to explore their faith and form meaningful relationships.

Reflections From Red Bird Mission Trip

During the Sunday, March 8th service, our congregation celebrated one of the ways we bring ministry outside of the church. We heard testimony from four of our members who spent the week of March 11 serving with brothers and sisters from two other UCC churches at Red Bird Mission in Beverly, Kentucky (part of Appalachia). Our volunteers were joined by one former member and one family member along with eighteen others to embody the love and grace of Christ through service to a community in need. The bulk of the work focused on rebuilding decks, replacing floors and repairing walls as well as helping to clean and organize the mission resale shop. The service recording is shared below.
